Charles Barkley Gets His Steak—St. Elmo Style—Live On Air Before Pacers Playoff Game

Indianapolis, IN – May 26

NBA legend and broadcaster Charles Barkley made headlines in Indianapolis this week—not for his commentary, but for his appetite.

Before the Indiana Pacers’ playoff game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Barkley jokingly put in a request for one of the city’s most iconic meals: a steak from the legendary St. Elmo Steak House. Never one to disappoint, the team at St. Elmo stepped up in style.

Longtime server Geoff Pierce delivered the meal live on air, serving Barkley a perfectly cooked steak accompanied by the restaurant’s world-famous St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail, a side of ketchup (per Barkley’s personal request), and a helping of Izzy’s Steak Sauce from sister restaurant Harry & Izzy’s.

The moment quickly went viral among fans, celebrating the surprise appearance of a local culinary favorite on national television—just in time to kick off playoff energy in the city.

“It was the perfect meal to start a Pacers playoff game,” said one fan who caught the moment live. “Only in Indy do you get steak and shrimp courtside.”

As the Pacers battle their way through the postseason, one thing’s for sure: the hospitality—and flavor—of Indianapolis is already championship caliber.
