Huse Culinary is an upscale restaurant and retail food group based in Indianapolis. We currently own and operate 5 restaurants and 4 restaurant brands, including St. Elmo Steak House, 1933 Lounge, Harry & Izzy’s, and Burger Study.
Huse Culinary began with co-owner Stephen “Steve” Huse taking over operation of the iconic Indianapolis restaurant St. Elmo Steak House in 1986. In 1997, Steve partnered with his son, Craig, and together they own, operate and steward St. Elmo Steak House to be Indy’s most celebrated restaurant. Craig and Steve expanded on the success of St. Elmo Steak House and opened a classic American grill in 2007 and now operate three locations. Huse Culinary opened our second original concept in 2011, opening the 1933 Lounge on the second floor above St. Elmo Steak House. We most recently opened our 3rd original concept, Burger Study, in 2017, and continue to explore opportunities for intentional and steady growth.
It's always been as much about the people as the food. From the moment in 1986 the Huse Family began its stewardship of St. Elmo, all of us at Huse Culinary have lived to serve our guests and develop our people. The relationship that we enjoy with our guests and staff is connected, and our loyal diners recognize and enjoy that bridge defining genuine hospitality. A culture of family exists throughout the organization and in every role.
However, we do take our food very seriously—from scratch seriously. We believe that the only way to achieve amazing food is with talented culinarians using fresh, premium and often local ingredients. If something is good, we believe that more of a good thing is always better. Steve Huse frequently states "too much of a good thing, is still not enough". That philosophy not only guides our culinary team, it is also why we continue to grow and spread our delight to others.
St. Elmo Foods offers retail sauces and condiments to major retailers throughout the U.S. Look for our restaurant products at your local grocer. Delighting our world, one guest and one consumer at a time.
